Hwa Chong Astronomy Club sucessfully hosted our very own Night Under the Stars (NUTS) last Thursday, contributing once more to this culture of NUTS led by previous batches of Astronomy Club members. (We hope you were NUTS about it!) We’d especially like to thank students from the following schools for their enthusiastic participation:
National Junior College
Nanyang Girls’ High School
Saint Joseph’s Institution
Raffles Institution
With the mobilisation of 2 reflectors, 1 refractor, and one cassegrain scope (as well as a relatively clear night sky), we managed to view a significant number of objects (given the limitations of Singapore’s night sky) including Mars, Saturn and Jupiter.
Our fringe activities included lessons on stargazing by our seniors, outdoor screening of astronomy videos as well as music performances. With the variety of acapella and guitar performances by invited musicians Jin Ming, Wai Yan, Ketong and Daniel, all of whom we’d like to thank with utmost gratitude, we hope you got to have a good time chilling out with your friends and learning more about our universe! As the event came to an end, we appreciate once more the seemingly silent and mysterious sky, and ponder on the secrets that lay hidden from our view, for now. Till the next NUTS!
Yours truly,
Hwa Chong Astronomy Club
