About AC
AC Mission
Astrochallenge (AC) aims to enhance student interest and understanding in Astronomy, and to foster close inter-school ties through this shared interest.
Their Vision
AstroChallenge, as the largest Astronomy-based competition in Singapore, aims to promote and facilitate Astronomy as both an intellectual pursuit and personal passion.
About Them
AstroChallenge is an annual astronomy competition jointly organised by the Astronomical Societies of National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University. AstroChallenge is specially-tailored for students in Secondary Schools, Junior Colleges and Polytechnics.
Inaugurated in 2002, AstroChallenge aims to broaden student interest and knowledge in astronomy; and to strengthen inter-school ties through their common interests. Students will tackle rigorous questions covering both theoretical and practical astronomy.
AstroChallenge is supported by both the National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University.
Rounds
Each AC consists of the following rounds
- MCQ: 50 Multiple-Choice Questions, 2 points for correct, -1 for incorrect
- DRQ: 5 Data Response Questions
- Observation: for selected members only, maximium 5 per school
- Project: do a project, have fun
